Tips before you book

  • Beijing winters are very cold and dry; spring and autumn are the best times.
  • Book the Forbidden City ahead with your passport: it is closed on Mondays and sells no same-day tickets.
  • The Great Wall at Mutianyu is about an hour and a half by car, so give it a full day.

Do hotels in Beijing have a bidet shower (shattaf)?

Not all of them, though some modern and luxury hotels have electronic toilets with a bidet function. Let us know and we will check with the hotel before booking.

Is Beijing good for families?

Yes, it has the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and Universal Beijing, though its winters are very cold.
