Important tips
- Visa and Mastercard cards issued outside Russia don't work there, so take cash in dollars or euros to change into roubles.
- WhatsApp has been blocked in Russia since February 2026, so arrange another way to stay in touch before you travel.
- Your hotel registers you with the migration authorities after you arrive; in private accommodation, you must be registered if you stay longer than 7 working days.
- The 90 days are counted per calendar year, in one visit or several, so add up your days.

Do Saudis need a visa for Russia?
No. Since 11 May 2026 Saudis can enter Russia visa-free for up to 90 days per calendar year.
What is the RuID app, and is it mandatory?
It's Russia's official pre-arrival registration app, mandatory since 1 July 2026 for everyone entering Russia without a visa. Register at least 72 hours before arrival; children under 6 are exempt.
Does the exemption cover work or study?
No. It covers tourism, business and visiting relatives and friends; work, study and residence need a visa.
Do bank cards work in Russia?
Visa and Mastercard cards issued outside Russia don't work, so it's best to take cash in dollars or euros.
