Which airport in Istanbul?
The main airport on the European side, served by Turkish Airlines, Saudia, flynas and flyadeal. Best if you stay in Taksim, Sultanahmet or Şişli.
On the Asian side, served by Pegasus and AJet. Best if you stay on the Asian side, and often cheaper.
Direct flights and the difference between airlines
Full-service airlines (Turkish Airlines and Saudia) usually include checked baggage and a meal, while the low-cost airlines (flynas, flyadeal, Pegasus and AJet) sell them separately depending on the fare.
A low-cost ticket can therefore look cheaper at first and end up close to a full-service fare once baggage is added, especially for families. Through our own booking systems we offer competitive fares across different airlines.
Best time to fly to Istanbul
Spring (April and May) and autumn (September and October) are the loveliest times, with mild weather and fewer crowds.
Summer, school holidays and Eid are the busiest periods from Saudi Arabia: fares rise and flights fill early, so book well ahead. Winter is colder and usually cheaper.
